Yoga for better sleep: a calming evening routine for beginners
August 11, 2026 · 1 min read
If your mind races the moment your head hits the pillow, a short evening yoga routine can help. These gentle poses and slow breaths tell your body it’s safe to rest. Do them softly, in dim light, right before bed.
1. Seated forward fold
Sit, reach toward your feet, and let your head hang. A calming stretch for the whole back of the body.
2. Legs up the wall
Lie down and rest your legs up a wall. It quiets the nervous system and eases tired legs.
3. Reclining twist
On your back, drop both knees to one side. Releases the spine and the day’s tension.
4. Slow Pranayam
Finish with long, slow exhales — breathe in for four, out for six. Longer exhales switch on the body’s rest mode.
